Areté Associates has been awarded a $7.6 million contract modification for the Navy's Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis (COBRA) program.

Areté will provide support for the AN/DVS-1 COBRA Block 1 system and support equipment, according to the Department of Defense contract announcement. COBRA aims to use UAVs in littoral areas to detect minefields and obstacles prior to an amphibious assault.

The contract, which was awarded by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, is scheduled to be completed by May 2017.
