Northrop Grumman has won a task order worth up to $74 million to support Acropolis, the Defense Information Systems Agency’s internal big-data cloud program, according to a company release.

Northrop’s work in Acropolis and its related sensor operations program involves providing cybersecurity services. That includes working to protect the system and the broader Defense Department Information Network (DoDIN) from cyber attacks and providing cyber-focused situational awareness to DISA analysts.

The task order was awarded under an Encore II Information Technology Solutions indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

“Under this task order, Northrop Grumman will continue providing secure, consolidated and integrated defensive cyber operations and a global cyber situational awareness environment to network defense analysts so they can better protect and defend the DoD Joint Information Environment (JIE), DOD Enterprise Services, and the [DoDIN] from the growing cyber threat,” the release stated. “The company will also operate and maintain the DoDIN-wide Computer Network Defense sensor infrastructure. The company will leverage its Advanced Cyber Technology Center to implement high-end innovations to bolster speed and resiliency as well as reap cost savings.”

Last August DISA announced the launch of Acropolis as a big-data cloud project modeled after a National Security Agency platform and designed to aggregate, correlate, reduce and analyze cyber threats, including insider threats. Today Acropolis is serving as the big data storage portion of DISA’s Cybersecurity Situational Awareness Analytical Cloud, enabling the cloud to provide analytics services and tools.
