Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its mine-hunting sonar on a British unmanned surface vessel (USV).
In the Royal Navy's upcoming Unmanned Warrior exercise, Northrop Grumman's AQS-24B towed mine-hunting sensor operated from an Atlas Elektronik UK ARCIMS USV, according to a Northrop Grumman news release. The AQS-24B, which is used by the U.S. Navy, is a high-speed, synthetic aperture sonar with an optical laser line scan sensor to identify mines.
The ARCIMS vessel will tow the AQS-24B through a simulated minefield.
