Thales has been awarded a contract to provide maritime UAVs to Malaysia.

Thales will provide its Fulmar small unmanned aircraft to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, according to a Thales news release.

The UAVs will be flown from six New Generation Patrol Craft that Malaysia is building.

"Fulmar will extend the operational capabilities of the Malaysian maritime surveillance fleet, proving a broad range of operational capabilities including counter-piracy, anti-smuggling operations, fisheries policing and border surveillance. Automatic detection and tracking systems and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) deliver unrivaled high performance surveillance on a flexible platform," Thales said.
