DARPA has awarded an $11.8 million contract for its Circuit Realization at Faster Timescales (CRAFT) – FinFET Foundry/Design Aggregation Services program.
The Phase I research contract was awarded to the University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute. Work is scheduled to be completed by February 2016, according to the Department of Defense contract announcement.
CRAFT is aiming for quick, customized creation of specialized integrated circuits that are faster and use less power than general-purpose circuits.
