The Air Force has selected Lockheed Martin’s Legion Pod as the infrared search and track system for the F-15C.

Lockheed Martin will provide more than 130 Legion pods, according to a company news release. Prime contractor Boeing will award Lockheed Martin an engineering, manufacturing, development and production contract in 2018.

The first pod is slated for delivery in 2018, with more coming in 2019. Lockheed Martin has flown more than 25 flight tests with the Legion pod on the F-15C and F-16.

“With a rapid delivery schedule and unmatched sensing capabilities, Legion Pod will immediately enhance our war fighters’ operations and address a passive attack capability gap,” said Lockheed Martin Vice President Paul Lemmo.
