Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $30 million Navy contract modification for more towed-array sonar to detect diesel- and nuclear-powered submarines.

“The contract modification includes the production of two U.S. twin line towed array (TL-29A) systems and additional provisioned items orders under the ceiling increase for spares under the Maritime Surveillance Systems Program Office, Program Executive Office Submarines, Naval Sea Systems Command,” according to the Department of Defense contract announcement.

The award increases the original contract amount from $71.1 million to $101 million. The work is scheduled to be completed this October.
