Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $20.5 million contract modification for Navy sonar.

Under the options exercised on the existing contract for production and support of Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-the-Shelf Insertion (A-RCI) sonar systems for submarines, Lockheed Martin will provide continued A-RCI Technology Insertion-14 hardware deliveries, according to the Department of Defense contract announcement.

A-RCI is a sonar system that integrates and improves towed array, hull array, sphere array and other ship sensor processing through rapid insertion of commercial off-the-shelf-based hardware and software.

The contract is scheduled to be completed by March 2019.
