Saab’s surveillance system now compatible with more aircraft

Saab’s Swordfish surveillance system for maritime patrol aircraft is now available for more aircraft.

Swordfish can be fitted on to Bombardier’s Q400 turboprop and Global 6000 jet, according to a Saab news release.

“The Swordfish is adept at long-duration patrol or search-and-rescue missions, but can also handle the most complex anti-submarine and anti-surface unit warfare tasks, all on the same mission,” Saab said. “Swordfish also provides an effective overland ISR capability and can be easily introduced into a customer’s existing operations and support infrastructure.”

Saab noted that it expects a steady stream of fixed-wing maritime aircraft business as more nations operate submarines, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
