Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $265 million Air Force contract to provide aircraft maintenance and logistics support for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) system.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will support four BACN E-11 aircraft, according to a company news release. The work is a continuation of an existing five-year contract that expires in January 2018. The new contract has a one-year base period and four option years.

“Northrop Grumman’s approach to maintaining the E-11A fleet utilizes an affordable and proven contractor logistics support team,” the company said. “This team employs highly streamlined reporting and supply chain tools that minimize parts delivery and downtime. Northrop Grumman’s aircraft maintenance work will include identifying subcontractor support, determining levels of aircraft repair, and assessing repair times, ground support equipment and tooling requirements.”

BACN is a flying gateway that connects various communications systems.
