Malaysia orders coastal radars

Malaysia has ordered Airbus coastal surveillance radars. The southeast Asian nation will receive the five SPEXER 2000 units, according to an Airbus announcement.

"SPEXER 2000 Coastal is the worldwide first security radar using the latest radar technology of Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA). Its capability to detect even smallest targets in difficult littoral environments ensures a very high level of situational awareness providing security forces with additional reaction time", said Thomas Müller, head of electronics and border security at Airbus Defense and Space.

The SPEXER 2000 has an instrumented range of 133 nautical miles, and can detect sea, air and land targets.
