The Navy continues is testing an airborne sensor for the P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft.

The APS-154 Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) is an external radar, replacing the current Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS). In addition to ISR functions, the AAS is capable of mast and periscope detection (MPD).

"Successful testing of AAS on the P-8A is a significant milestone enabling production decisions and leading up to the initial deployment of AAS," said a Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) news release.
