Australian military orders Harris radios

Naval Construction Battalion Unit 202 sailors talk to members of the Australian navy, army and air force during a tour of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Oct. 24. Australian forces met with expeditionary sailors to see how they operate and to learn about NECC capabilities. NECC serves as the single functional command for the Navy’s expeditionary forces and as central management for the readiness, resources, manning, training and equipping of those forces.

Harris Corp. has been selected to provide the Australian military with an integrated battlefield communications system.

Harris was named the preferred tenderer for the Land 2072 Phase 3 program, which is a critical part of the Australian Army’s Networked Digitization Plan, according to a Harris news release.

“Under the program, Harris will provide an integrated tactical communications network for voice and data services to tactical forces over line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight applications,” the company said. “The solution will include tactical radios and other systems and technology from Harris and other partner companies.”
