DISA's Defense Spectrum Organization (DSO) is planning to re-compete its current contract that provides electromagnetic spectrum support services critical to the Department of Defense.
When the current contract expires in 2016, DISA's new acquisition plan will divide the EMS functions across three separate contract vehicles in accordance with the newly released DoD Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) strategy. This will provide more opportunities for small businesses, resulting in competitive pricing and superior service for mission partners. DSO is conducting market research to determine the capability of industry to provide services in this manner. Areas under consideration include Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Enterprise Services and Capabilities; EMS Operations, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineering and Strategic Planning Support; and EMS Applied Engineering Support.
"DSO is moving forward in support of implementing the DoD Electromagnetic Spectrum Strategy," said DSO Director Stuart Timerman. "Our partnership with industry will help us achieve the goals of the EMS strategy."
