The Marines will put a new semi-submersible boat to the test designed to stealthily deliver ship-killing missiles to troops ashore. To save time and ditch unneeded gear, the Army recently began a pilot program to expedite removing excess equipment from unit inventories. The U.S. Army last year tapped TRX Systems to produce DAPS GEN II in a deal worth as much as $402 million. The service has fielded 4,000 radios since October 2023. The service plans to take vendors into a competition from FY25 through FY27 to procure its second interceptor for the Indirect Fire Protection Capability. The 31st MEU continued the Marine Corps' push to experiment with expeditionary advanced base operations during its two deployments in 2023. Bombardier will supply its Global 6500 business aircraft as a prototype for the Army's newest aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance plane. The first location to field the simulators will be the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. Three locations use the Reaper drone — and the Corps plans to open a support unit in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
