Two UAVs were used in a strike mission that killed two Hezbollah leaders in Syria, according to Israeli media.
Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz cited UN peacekeepers who reported seeing two unmanned aircraft crossing the Israeli border into Syria. The strike killed Hezbollah leaders Jihad Mughniyeh and Mohamad Issa, as well as four other militants. Jihad Mughniyeh is the son of Imad Mughniyeh, a feared Hezobllah leader who was assassinated by a car bomb planted by unknown assailants in Damascus in 2008.
Like the U.S., Israel uses drones for targeted assassinations, while Hezbollah and its patron Iran also fly them. The strike against Hezbollah comes as the conflict between Syrian rebels, and the Hezbollah-supported Syrian government, spreads to the Golan Heights.
