CenturyLink has been selected by DISA as an authorized network services provider for the agency's Global Network Services (GNS) contract.

As an authorized services provider for the $4 billion GSN contract, CenturyLink can bid on task orders for wired and wireless communications.

"CenturyLink is authorized to bid on and provide a suite of global network transport services that include content delivery networks, virtual private networks, fiber-optic broadband, Wi-Fi, satellite, wavelength, network security, colocation, cloud connectivity and software-defined networking services," said a company news release.

GSN aims to create a single Department of Defense communications network, with a 100-gigabit-per-second backbone, by 2020.
