Raytheon and DRS are collaborating on a bid for the U.S. Army's 3rd Generation Improved Forward Looking Infrared program (3rd Gen IFLIR).

The two companies have previously collaborated on the 2nd Gen FLIR, which provided nearly 20,000 sensors to the Army, Navy and Marine Corps during the last decade, noted a Raytheon news release.

"With this effort, Raytheon and DRS will leverage our Horizontal Technology Integration experience and 3rd Gen focal plane array technology," said Michelle Lohmeier, vice president of Raytheon's Land Warfare Systems division. "We offer a low-risk schedule and program plan to field this technology into land combat platforms."
