The Philippines has taken possession of two new ISR aircraft.

The two Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft were formally handed over as part of a $33 million package under the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act Building Partnership Capacity Program.

“Arrival of the C-208B ISR aircraft provides the Armed Forces of the Philippines with technologically advanced ISR capability in support of counterterrorism operations,” said a Department of Defense news release. “The ISR capability includes line-of-sight live data and air-to-ground info streaming.”

The Philippines armed forces have been embroiled in a long struggle against Muslim insurgents. The U.S. has provided extensive aid, including special forces advisers.
