The Army wants a wearable antenna for soldiers.

The antenna would be capable of operating in multiple bands and with all current radios, according to the Army research solicitation. [https://sbir.defensebusiness.org/topics/instructionfile?agencyId=3&solicitationId=105&filetype=html]. The antenna would have a minimum range of a half-kilometer. The antenna should also have the ability "to be remoted from the radio and the soldier (i.e.: hoisted into a tree) to provide increased communications range in heavily forested or triple canopy jungle environments. Communications range is expected to increase up to 5 kilometers under these conditions."

The solicitation also stipulates that the design must demonstrate that transmissions from a body-worn antenna won't damage the human body.
