"With cyber, networks and communications proving to be the key source of military advantage in this modern age, I'm proud that C4ISR & Networks has become the dedicated, authoritative source for news, insight, discussion and thought leadership on these topics," said Rosenberg on the eve of his departure. "I'm proud of the digital brand we've built as well as its companion magazine, and look forward to continue to dialogue with everybody going forward."
A replacement for the C4ISR & Networks editor position has not yet been named, but a selective search is underway.
Rosenberg moves on from the editor's role after a highly successful launch of C4ISR & Networks (formerly C4ISR Journal) two and a half years ago. During that time, C4ISR & Networks has become the media leader in its field, with remarkable growth in its digital offerings. C4ISR & Networks has consistently grown its viewership month after month, with exponential strides year over year, by providing a variety of offerings that include video, special coverage packages and unparalleled news coverage of the network defense sector. Rosenberg delivered for the C4ISR & Networks audience an in-depth perspective with innovative features, leadership interviews, webcasts, and live events. This includes the prestigious C4ISR & Networks Conference, the premier annual event in the field, which will occur on May 26th of this year in Arlington, Virginia. Rosenberg will continue to participate in this year's event as a moderator of a panel.
"Barry has been both my trusted friend and partner in launching C4ISR & Networks to its success, and before that I've worked with him in media in the defense IT and networks field for well over a decade. So it's with a personal sadness that I see Barry's departure," said David Smith, general manager and vice president of the Network Solutions division of Sightline Media Group. "As we are friends, I will of course keep in close touch with Barry, but I'll surely miss working with him on a daily basis. I wish him all of the success in the world in his new endeavor."
In addition, Jill Aitoro has been promoted to executive editor of the Network Solutions Group of Sightline Media, which comprises both C4ISR & Networks and Federal Times. In this capacity Aitoro will provide strategic editorial guidance, ensuring continued excellence for C4ISR & Networks in its mission while maintaining overall editorial quality and integrity that are cornerstones of both brands.
"Barry has made the brand the leading news provider in its field, setting the stage for a new era of growth for which we have robust and exciting plans. I'm proud to have someone of Jill's top caliber to work with on this strategy, and we will soon be announcing the appointment of a talented editor to guide the helm for the C4ISR & Networks brand," Smith noted.
"I'm honored to be a part of this amazing team, supporting the success of C4ISR & Networks and Federal Times and ensuring these brands continue to engage and inform our defense and civilian audience," said Aitoro, who will continue managing the day-to-day operations at Federal Times, in addition to ensuring a consistent editorial vision across Network Solutions. "Without question, Barry built an amazing brand."
