The global airborne electronic warfare market will reach $1.1 billion by 2016, according to a forecast by consultants Frost & Sullivan. This is an increase from the approximately $1 billion market in 2014.

However, spending is predicted to decrease to $950.6 million in 2019.

"Rising aerial threat perceptions are prompting defense forces across the world to bolster their air defense capabilities with airborne electronic warfare (EW) systems," Frost & Sullivan said. "As budget constraints compel governments to defer major new procurement programs, upgrades of existing EW systems will be the bigger revenue stream till 2018. Once budget constraints ease, the fresh procurements/fleet replacements will feature new combat air platforms with modern EW systems."
