Aptima has been awarded two Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) contracts to expand the Towards Integration of Data for Unbiased Intelligence and Trust (TID-BIT) intelligence fusion system.
TID-BIT fuses information from ISR sensors with open-source data such as social media, and thus eases the workload on human analysts.
The contracts, worth a combined $667,000, are to extend TID-BIT to include "accurate automated target and activity recognition in anti-access areas of denial (A2AD)," according to an Aptima news release.
"Aptima is working with AFRL to extend the TID-BIT system to help analysts complete the knowledge gaps in those situations in which traditional sensing sources aren't available and analysts are dependent on open source intelligence. Based on a 'who said what' extraction and analysis of the unstructured information, TID-BIT will be able to provide analysts the ability to explore the source attribution of a piece of information and assess the reliability of the source, the information credibility, and certainty," the company said.
