Gary Gagnon has been named vice president of cyber strategy and chief security officer of the MITRE corporation, a nonprofit organization that manages federal research.

He will be responsible for the organization’s cyber strategy and has been tasked with protecting the organization from physical and digital attacks.

MITRE runs federally funded research and development centers that focus on scientific inquiry, development, acquisition and systems engineering.

Gagnon was previously the vice president and chief information security officer at Amazon. He has also worked at MITRE for 30 years across leadership roles.
