The ability of employees or government contractors to steal and disseminate troves of classified information has alarmed the Defense Department, which has taken multiple steps to stop such occurrences.
According to the Global Innovation 1000 study by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, 30 of the top 1,000 companies in R&D spend count defense and aerospace as a primary industry. Among those, the top U.S. companies spent $11.79 billion.
“We need coherence when it comes to development of capabilities," said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. "We must avoid that the same nations have two sets of requirements for what kind of capabilities they should develop."
