The Department of Defense has purchased 60 underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROV) for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD).
Teledyne SeaBotix will provide its vLBV300 ROVs. The contract, through distributor Atlantic Diving Supply, is valued at several million dollars, according to a Teledyne SeaBotix announcement.
The robots will be sent to EOD mobile units around the world. "The new SeaBotix vLBV 300 systems will be fitted with a range of commercial off the shelf equipment, including SeaBotix's unique tracked crawler attachment skid, imaging sonar, tooling options, altimeter and USBL/GPS navigation capability plus the Teledyne Marine autonomous ROV navigation package — SmartFlightTM," Teledyne said.
