PEO-C3T installs new leader

The Army's Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications-Tactical has a new leader, and he's got a different look.

Gary Martin, who most recently served as deputy to the commanding general of Army Communications-Electronics Command, officially took over in a change-of-command ceremony held June 19 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. He takes over for MG Daniel Hughes, who is headed to Afghanistan on assignment as deputy commanding general for Support, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.

While PEO-C3T's top leader traditionally has been military, Martin's expansive civilian background with the Army network and tactical IT landed him the job. Besides CECOM, Martin has served as Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command (RDECOM) executive director to the commanding general, the technical director for the Communications-Electronics, Research Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), and as deputy project manager and acting project manager for the Army's tactical radio systems.

"I look forward carrying on the important mission that MG Hughes put in place of extending a soldier's 'digital reach' while also working to simplify these systems," Martin said in a release announcing the change of command. "As we continue to transition to a more expeditionary force, these communications capabilities will provide our soldiers with the right information at the point of need."
