ViaSat has been awarded an extension on a Defense Information Systems Agency contract for VIP communications.

The contract covers in-flight broadband and connectivity by senior leaders. “The ViaSat satellite system uses advanced hybrid terminal technology to enable automatic and rapid in-flight network switching across Ku- and Ka-band satellite networks for optimized global roaming connectivity — which is unique to ViaSat’s solution, and not offered by any other service provider today,” said a company news release.

ViaSat’s service includes high-definition video and VoIP conferencing. ViaSat will also be eligible for a second DISA contract extension.
