ViaSat has been awarded $88.3 million in contracts to provide terminals for the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System, or MIDS JTRS.

Under the Lot 5 and 5a contracts, from the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, ViaSat will provide terminals for Air Force and Navy fourth-generation fighters as they transition to JTRS terminals, according to a ViaSat news release.

"The Lot 5 and Lot 5a awards underscore ViaSat's position as the leading provider of state-of-the-art Link 16 airborne networking systems," said Ken Peterman, president of government systems at ViaSat.

Work will be performed in Carlsbad, California, and Tempe, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by June 2019.
