Dover Air Force Base will benefit from a new fiber optic cable contract. (Air Force)
Windstream has been awarded a $3 million contract to provide fiber services at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.
The contract, awarded by the Defense Information Systems Agency, will expand DISA's fiber network into those two installations. "Windstream will install two half-10Gbps waves for fully diverse fiber paths into the facilities, tying those paths together to connect back to Windstreamís national fiber network," said a company news release.
DISAís current fiber network will be expanded into Fort Campbell, home to the only Air Assault Division in the world and located between Hopkinsville, Ky., and Clarksville, Tenn., creating additional route diversity and redundancy. Dover Air Force Base, located just outside of Dover, Del., will benefit from the same expansion efforts.
